What is Spreaker?
Spreaker is an podcast hosting service / network. I use it on Saturdays to do Ask the Podcast Coach (combined with callinstudio.com to take calls, although right now I'm testing Blog Talk Radio's beta system). Spreaker, launched in 2010 by Francesco Baschieri and Marco Pracucci, is a web and mobile application where audio creators can upload, create, and distribute their content throughout the web. Thanks to its fully equipped console, users can create audio on the fly, mixing voice with music, tracks, and effects. Live chatting lets broadcasters interact with fans in real time, and connecting with social networks helps extend their reach to new ears. Spreaker has been continually adding new features through the year.
Spreaker on Sonos
As I do not have a Sonos (they start around $200 a speaker), I did see some videos on Youtube where people were adding Pandora (another service -see graphic ) to their sonsos controller. From what I can gather from the videos and doing research (so again, I do NOT have a sonos speaker). The controller allows you to add different services (Tunein, soundcloud, Google Play and many others). Now Spreaker is available. This is where Speaker differs from other hosting companies. They are not only a host, but you can subscribe to others shows on their network and be notified when new episodes are out (currently I have over 4000 followers on Speaker).
My guess is you simply go in and add spreaker, put in your login information and you can now control Speaker from the Sonos app. I watched a few video reviews of sonos and they all said the same thing – this is super easy to setup, and when you tie in the apps with the desktop version of their software (both PC and Mac) you can get super flexible with managing your sound.
