CBS has been growing faster by any other network by ignoring what the other networks are doing and doing what they want to do (longer interviews, no weather person). They are doing their own thing.
You can out Good Morning America the actual Good Morning America. In the same way, you can't John Lee Dumis the actual John Lee Dumis. He will always better better and being John than you are. Instead focus on being you.
If you have a big guest on your show, go listen to other interviews of that person and make sure to ask different questions.
Don't be afraid to ask for bigger guests once you have some interviews under your belt. This can lead to publicists helping you find guests.
