Picking Your Podcast Name
When it comes time to pick the name of your podcast there are a couple of things to think about and avoid.
1. Is it going to be obvious what your podcast is about?
2. Does it roll off the tounge?
3. Does it look good in print?
4. Does it have words like “to/two/2” that can be confused?
You can check the availability of a domain name by going to http://schoolofpodcasting.com/domaincheck which will take you over to a page with a Godaddy search box. If the domain name is available then BUY it (its only $12/yr).
Making Money With Audible
Affiliate marketing is basically online commission sales. You sign up for a program, and they provide you with a link to their product or service. If someone uses that link and makes a purchase you earn a commission. I recently signed up at www.schoolofpodcasting.com/audible and customized a link so that people who go to www.audibletrial.com/dave this way I can use it on all my podcast ( I was lucky no other “daves” had taken this address). I do a podcast about Jillian Michaels (the ex-trainer from the Biggest Loser), and when her new book came out I played a sample of it (from the audible website) and told my listeners that they could get the book for free. The result? A four figure commission check. I then told my Musician audience that Steven Tyler from American Idol and Aerosmith had a new audio book out, and that Sammy Hagar had a new audio book out and the result$ were nice.
When it comes to affiliate marketing, the idea is not to find an affiliate program and then tell your audience. A better more REAL approach is to find a product you love (like my fitbit) and see if they have an affiliate program. I talk about this in length in my book More Podcast Money. When you can relay your personal experience with a product it doesn't come off so much as a sales pitch.

A great idea, but one thing to note ( I just found out as I tried to get set up) is they require an online Privacy Policy they can find during their review. Not a big deal, but something to have setup before you apply.
