Holiday Hours For Apple and Your Media Hosts
Apple has posted their holiday hours.
From 11/19/22 – 11/27/22 along with 12/23/22 – 1/2/23, new shows and channels or subscriptions submitted during these windows may not be available within our regular. And responses to support inquiries might be slightly delayed plan accordingly and submit any new content with this in mind,
According to Rob Walch at Libsyn, “If you want to have a full launch by January 1, you should submit by November 15.”
What If I don't submit by November 15th? All is not lost, the world has waited 18 years for your podcast, it may have to wait another week.
Be Kind To Your Media Hosts
No matter what the company is, your media host, email providers, etc, please remember that everyone is taking time off to be with their family and friends, etc. Lighting up a company on social isn't going to help because (more than likely) nobody is home as they are also with their friends and family (and maybe you should be too).

Why You Should Always Ask How People Found Your Podcast
I always ask new members of the School of Podcasting how they came to be a show. I was surprised when a new member answered he found my book Profit from your Podcast at a FedEx Store which lead him to come and find my podcast, and that lead to him joining the School of Podcasting.
My First Impression of Capsho the AI Copywriting Tool For Podcasters
According to their website, Capsho claims, “The Best AI Copywriting Software for Podcasters. Create your podcast promotional copy in under 10 minutes.” You upload your episode, and it spits out:
- Episode title
- Episode description
- Show notes
- Blog post
- Promotional Email
- Social Media Captions (for all platforms)
- LinkedIn Article
- Transcript
Um Yeah, No…
When I uploaded a 90-minute episode of my Ask the Podcast Coach show where I along with Jim Collison answer questions from the audience, it didn't do as well of a job. It wasn't horrible, but I believe the multiple topics in one file confused it a bit. We had someone join mid-show and it kept attaching that person's name to things that just didn't make sense.
Wait, Holy Cow!
So what I did was I took last week's episode about how using different words can lead to better outcomes for your podcast (for example instead of asking someone if they are interested in being a guest on your show, ask them if they are interested). I went into Hindenburg Journalist software and exported just the segment about words (not the question of the month, etc). After the first experiment, I really expected this to be another failure. What happened with a more focused source, Capsho caught my attention and really surprised me.
The 1000+ word blog post it wrote sounded like I wrote it because a large chunk of words on the page had come out of my mouth. As it was generated by a robot the blog post did require some editing (and I wanted to add some links). The time it took to update the blog post? Seven minutes (so they claim of being under minutes range true).
Is It Worth It?
There are lots of products with AI (Artificial Intelligence). Word Hero will help you write over 60 different types of descriptions starting at $50/month (there is also a lifetime deal aff). Anyword is another copywriting tool for $30/month. Descript with transcribe and make it easy to edit your show (and they have that amazing studio sound tool). Headliner Studio from CoSchedule is $9/month. With Capsho plans starting at $29/month, I believe it delivers enough value (but that depends on your budget). In my world, I've decided to keep using it and see how it performs.
Much Like Adding Audio to YouTube…
Podcast Media hosts like Libsyn and other services like Repurpose.io make it easy to submit your audio file to YouTube and they will put a static image in place for the visual side. Is this a good strategy? If you have zero YouTube presence, sure. If you have a YouTube channel, then I suggest making a new channel for static videos.
Here with Capsho, it creates some impressive work. If you hate writing and are looking for help on social media because you're not doing anything on social media, this will help you do more than what you're doing (nothing).
However, I feel to say, “It's better than nothing” is insulting to this service. I was impressed by the blog it spits out, and the headlines it recommended. So many people think adding transcripts is the answer to show notes/descriptions, but remember Google doesn't want just words, it wants GOOD words. It wants Good content. So many of the tools like Jasper and Surfer SEO can help but in some cases, you need to fact-check the words that get spit out (ADDING to the time it takes to create your content).
If you can write 1000 words in less than seven minutes then you don't need it. You can try it for free and see what you think.
AI Will NEVER Release a Human
I will get into this later, but while a computer can imitate a human, I feel it can't replace. We are all different with these things called opinions and personalities, and even though I can specify a tone in some AI products like Word Hero it almost always needs a tweak to match your personality.
So Who Is Capsho Good For?
If you're not writing anything or struggling, this does a lot of the heavy lifting. If would love to have someone help you with your description, titles, etc but can't afford a virtual assistant, but can find $29-$90 in the monthly budget, then this might be a good fit. As always, you pay in one of two currencies, time or money. Whichever one you have the most of, use that.
Don't Forget Robots Hurt Radio
Less anyone thing I'm “Pro AI” there is a part of me that resents AI because it ruined the radio in my town. Turn on the radio and you hear what amounts to Siri or Alexa acting as the DJ as they announce, “Eddie Money Two Tickets to Paradise” before sending me into a six-minute barrage of ads. Robots cost less than humans, and in the pursuit of more profit, radio executives focused on quarterly profits instead of their audience.
Tom Webster penned some great posts about radio's mistakes. We need to understand our history so we don't repeat it.
As we speak developers are writing code that will listen to your podcast and what may be much like a food label, give your episode a score. This may inspire others (in pursuit of making money via ads) to suck out all of the personality of their show leaving us with what amounts to an audio version of “Up With People.”
Don't Turn Podcasting Into Up With People
As a young boy probably around the age of seven, I remember being subjected to “Up With People” at numerous Super Bowl Appearances. For those of you that weren't around, as a seven-year-old boy I would say, “Oh no, please not these guys again.” It was hundreds of young people dawning sweaters and Cheshire cat smiles singing about giving it away (this was before the chili peppers song), and they were upbeat, positive, and more importantly SAFE. What were they giving away? I often didn't know, but they really clapped and smiled and told me to do it now, and do it everywhere. It was horrible. But it was brand safe.
