Making Your Podcast Binge-Worthy
Something to think about:
What are you offering your audience that they should spend their time-consuming? Not just one but several episodes. That statement is a little scary.
1. It has to be GOOD, actually very good.
2. Create click-attracting titles. I use a tool called Headline Studio
Make sure to have keywords in your title (Mangools is an affordable SEO Tool)
3. Get your audience asking, What Happens Next??
4. Give them multiple points of insight.
Announce what is in the last episode, explain what is in this episode, and tease the next episode. This gives them three points of insight.
5. Make it EASY to Binge (by making it easy to subscribe/follow).
If you're on WordPress check out the Social Subscribe and Follow plugin for WordPress.
6. Add an element of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO).
7. Get Your Best Content In Front of Your Audience.
You can create a playlist on Spotify and embed it into your website.
8. Teasing Your Audience. Get them wondering “What happens next.”
9. Have a Show that Walks Through a Process.
If your show has a story, it naturally is not going to work starting in the middle.
Make your content relevant. Be YOURSELF.
Free Zoom Reduces Amount of Time on Free Account.
Check out Squadcast(my favorite). If you must use something free there is zencastr and cleanfeed
or you can just upgrade your zoom account ($15).
Facebook Pulls Out of Podcasting
Do not put too much emphasis on this. It's kind of like saying, “McDonald's is no longer selling Pizza.” Most people didn't know they did, and those that did didn't like it. In the past big companies like Yahoo, Microsoft, and Odeo backed out of podcasting when Apple stepped in (Odeo returned as Twitter). Keep focusing on your audience and make it EASY to subscribe and follow your show on YOUR website. Don't have a website for your show? Try Podpage at www.trypodpage.com where you can build a website with zero coding skills. I also have a free class on Podpage at www.schoolofpodcasting.com/freeclasses
