Coming back from Podcast Movement, I've got a story that really drives home the point that nothing beats face-to-face networking. I mean, sure, we can all hop on Zoom and pretend we're connecting, but when you're actually sharing a meal with someone or just hanging out, that's where the magic happens. It's like the difference between texting your buddy and grabbing a beer – one is okay, but the other is where real connections are made. And let's be honest, who doesn't want to make meaningful connections while stuffing their face with overpriced convention center food?
Strong Connections Happen Face To Face
I got to hang a bit with Rob Greenlee, Jeff Sieh, Lou Mongello and many others. Some of these people I've known for 20 years. Their little kids are no graduating from college. Like me, their once black hair is now more salt than pepper.
And the beautiful thing is you pick up right where you left off. We listen to each other's shows to stay in touch, and suddenly the communication goes from one to many to one to one. The strong connection you have gets even stronger.
Events Are a Huge Gamble
Yes, these events are expensive. I don't know how to fix that. I like them small, in small hotels, with small prices. The problem is you have a small event, and you love it so much you want more people to experience it – so you invite your friends. This repeats and the next thing you know you're in a resort that holds thousands of people that many people can't afford.
The solution is to have smaller shows multiple times a year. The problem with this is that it takes just as much work to hold a smaller event as it is to hold a larger event.
With this in mind, if you can attend, please do. You can see where I will be HERE.

- Most podcasters are totally wasting their listeners' time with a simple fix in editing.

Podcast Not Growing As Fast as You'd Like?
One thing I've learned over the 20 years of podcasting is that you need an outsider point of view to catch the things you're too close to see.
I once had a type in the name of the School of Podcasting (montize instead of monetize). Check out Podcast Hot Seat.

Hey Dave, I was wondering how I get my client on your podcast as a guest.
He’s the CEO of https://www.onpod.io/ a chain of podcast studios growing fast.
And the idea is: Podcasting is the new networking. As an introverted technician Jeremy never enjoyed the environment of networking events. But when he got into podcasting he realized that he could make deeper more intimate connection one person at a time. And that one person can change your whole trajectory.
If this is of interest to you, let me know and I’ll connect the 2 of you.
JeanLuc, while I see where getting exposure for his company benefits his business. What is the benefit for my audience?
